THE INFLUENCE OF SILICON ON THE PHASE COMPOSITION OF INTERMETALLIC ALLOYS OF THE FE - AL SYSTEM
Abstract
The effect of silicon alloying of an Fe - Al intermetallic alloy produced by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis on the changes of nature of phase composition and hardness was studied. It is stated that increasing the silicon concentration to 2.3% (at.) decrease the FeAl: Fe3Al phase ratio from 2.46 to 1.51 and increased the alloy hardness from 44.52 to 56.4 HRC.
