CURRENT STATUS OF PIG FARMING AND PROBLEMS: BREEDS AREAS, MAIN SELECTION TRAITS, GENEALOGICAL STRUCTURE

Today, the pig breeding industry in Ukraine is undergoing significant changes due to a number of factors that may lead to the loss of the domestic breeding base. Therefore, constant monitoring of the state of breeding pig breeding, as the basis of the industry and its competitiveness, has practical value, as it allows us to have an idea of the distribution of breeds by region, the need to expand or reduce the number of breeding farms, improve the corresponding population according to the desired productivity characteristics, preserve the classic genealogical lines and families for the breed, or create new factory structures. The analysis of the range of breeds was carried out, the features of pig productivity indicators were established and their distribution by lines and families was carried out with the determination of the possibility of purebred breeding. The feasibility of adjusting selection with breeds and harmonizing domestic legislation with European requirements was proven.
