Abstract

This research aims to present an analytical approach to the mechanism proposed by Muhammad Hussein Al-Tabataba'i, one of the most prominent contemporary Islamic thinkers, concerning the issue of the necessity, genesis (origin), and Islamic nature of political authority. This is done within the scope of a political intellectual vision that integrates with the religious foundations that Al-Tabataba'i adheres to. The research has been divided into three sections; the first section addresses the rational necessity and the legal/Shari”a necessity of political authority according to Al-Tabataba'i; the second section examines the genesis (origin) of political authority; and the third section discusses the Islamic nature of political authority according to Muhammad Hussein Al-Tabataba'i
