Electrochemical Sensing of Glyphosate Employing Cucurbit [6] uril -Chitosan Composite Platinum Electrode
Abstract
Glyphosate is universally used broad spectrum organophosphorus herbicide to eliminate weeds. Although it’s prolonged use has led to contamination of water and soil bodies and potential health issues in humans. This study highlights the necessity to monitor the level of glyphosate using electrochemical sensor. Herein, we report the development of a chitosan-cucurbit [6] uril modified platinum nanoparticle electrode for the detection of glyphosate. Platinum nanoparticle deposited electrode was modified by chitosan-cucurbit [6] uril solution by drop cast method. Electrochemical performance was examined by cyclic voltammetry and it is found that the current response of oxidation of glyphosate at modified electrode is higher than the bare and nanoparticle deposited platinum electrode.
