This article examines, in order to increase the individual preparedness of candidates for admission to higher educational institutions, information on the level of preparation of applicants from among the civilian youth of Ukraine was summarized. A low level of endurance development was revealed in candidates for admission to higher military educational institutions according to the normative indicators of candidates for training in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Significant differences and trends towards a deterioration in the level of physical fitness of candidates for admission at the age of 18.19 years compared to candidates 16.17 years were established. The level of physical fitness of men and women according to the normative indicators does not differ significantly. It was noted that there was a lack of practice in performing endurance exercises in secondary education institutions among male students of 11 grades, which are used to determine the level of physical fitness of applicants, which affected the overall results of candidates for admission to an educational institution. The conducted study showed the need to make changes to the programs in secondary education institutions for the development of physical quality - endurance.
