The purpose of the study was to identify the pedagogical conditions for the application of powerlifting in the process of physical education of future petroleum engineers. To achieve this goal, the following research methods were used: analysis and generalization of scientific literature and practical experience, systems analysis, the comparative method, and the method of logical generalization. The study revealed that for effective professional activity of future oil and gas specialists, such motor and psychophysical qualities as strength, endurance (general and static), agility, reaction speed, vestibular stability, operational thinking, courage, determination, and communicative ability are of great importance. Powerlifting training means have a multifaceted effect on the body, ensure the development of basic motor qualities, contribute to the correction of physical development, and promote the formation of an aesthetically pleasing athletic physique. Powerlifting classes within the framework of physical education contribute to the development of strength, speed, endurance, strength endurance, agility, and flexibility, as well as to the formation of specific skills and abilities. Motor qualities are an important structural component of professionally significant qualities of future oil and gas specialists and characterize a person’s ability to overcome external resistance through muscular effort. Professional activity in this field involves the selection of specialists taking into account health status, functional and mental characteristics, and professional qualities. Increasing health reserves ensures the enhancement of nonspecific adaptation of the body, the level of its functional capabilities, and resistance to adverse influences, which is achieved through the means of physical culture and sport.
