Felicola subrostratus em felino doméstico na cidade de Campina Grande, Paraíba
Abstract
This study aimed to report an atypical case of Felicola subrostratus infestation associated with gastrointestinal symptoms, emphasizing the effectiveness of the therapeutic protocol implemented. The diagnosis was confirmed through microscopic examination. Treatment with topical Banni® and gastrointestinal support led to complete resolution of clinical signs within seven days. This case highlights the importance of including ectoparasites in the differential diagnosis of atypical gastrointestinal symptoms. We report a case of pediculosis caused by F. subrostratus in a mixed-breed cat (SRD) presenting with persistent diarrhea and coat deterioration. Diagnosis by microscopy and treatment with topical Banni® combined with gastrointestinal support resulted in complete resolution of symptoms within seven days. This case reinforces the need for parasitological investigation in debilitated cats, even in the absence of visible skin lesions.
