Intravesical Ureterocele with Ureterolith Correction by Scissor Transection Guided by Urethrocystoscopy as A Minimally Invasive Treatment Alternative
Abstract
Malformations of the lower urinary tract are increasingly associated with conditions that may evolve unfavorably, such as urinary tract infections, urolithiasis, and even neoplasms. Ureterocele is an anatomic alteration characterized by the formation of a cystic dilation in the distal ureter, interfering with urinary flow and posing risks for acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, and recurrent urinary tract infections. It is often diagnosed late in older animals, with surgical correction as the primary treatment. This report describes a case of intravesical ureterocele associated with a ureterolith, corrected through ureteral transection using scissors guided by urethrocystoscopy. The aim is to highlight the benefits and advantages of this minimally invasive technique compared to conventional surgical methods.
