Abstract
Abstract. Relevance of the research. The contemporary educational process is characterized by increasing academic, informational, and emotional demands on upper secondary school students, which are often accompanied by disturbances in psycho-emotional balance, reduced adaptive capacity, and lower stress resistance. The period of summer health improvement creates favorable conditions for restoring the physical and psychological potential of senior students. Rationally organized sport-mass and physical culture–health-oriented activities in health and recreation institutions can serve as an effective means of normalizing emotional states, developing social skills, and forming positive motivation for physical activity. At the same time, the limited number of studies devoted to a comprehensive assessment of the impact of such activities on the psycho-emotional state of upper secondary school students determines the relevance of the present research. Purpose of the study was to assess the influence of sport-mass and physical culture–health-oriented activities on indicators of the psycho-emotional state of 10th–11th grade students during their stay in a health and recreation institution. Material and methods. The study involved 50 students aged 15-17 years. The following methods were applied: theoretical methods (analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological sources); pedagogical methods (observation and pedagogical experiment); psychodiagnostic tools (the Well-Being–Activity–Mood test (WAM), the Perceived Stress Scale by S. Cohen, and the method for assessing the level of reflection by M. Maksymov); questionnaires; and methods of mathematical statistics. The health-oriented program included active and sports games, team competitions, fitness sessions, hiking activities, and relay races. Results. The implementation of a complex of sport-mass and physical culture–health-oriented activities contributed to positive changes in the psycho-emotional state of senior students. According to the WAM test, improvements were recorded in well-being (by 18%), activity (by 21%), and mood (by 23%). The level of stress measured by the S. Cohen scale decreased on average from 19 to 9 points. In addition, an increase in the level of reflection, self-control, adequacy of self-assessment, as well as enhanced social activity and quality of interpersonal interaction was observed. Conclusions. Sport-mass and physical culture–health-oriented activities in health and recreation institutions are an effective means of optimizing the psycho-emotional state of upper secondary school students, reducing emotional tension, and fostering stress resistance. The obtained results can be used in the practice of organizing health-promoting and educational activities in children’s health and recreation institutions, out-of-school, and general secondary education establishments
