Investigating the role of green knowledge sharing in shaping an environmentally friendly work climate and its consequences for environmental performance
Abstract
This research addresses the critical issue of pro-environmental behavior in the workplace, focusing on how green leadership and personal environmental awareness influence this behavior. The primary objective of the study is to examine the relationship between these factors and their impact on creating a supportive organizational culture for sustainability. Using a survey method, the study gathers data from 405 employees working in the creative industry. The analysis employs Covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB SEM) to test the relationships among the variables. The study's findings reveal a significant and positive influence of green leadership on pro-environmental behavior, indicating that leaders who adopt and effectively implement sustainability principles inspire their employees to engage in environmentally friendly practices. Moreover, personal environmental awareness emerges as a crucial factor that enhances this relationship. Employees who are strongly aware of environmental issues are more likely to respond positively to green leadership initiatives, thereby contributing to a culture that prioritizes sustainability. This research highlights the essential connection between green leadership, personal environmental awareness, and green knowledge sharing, demonstrating that these elements collectively contribute to improved environmental performance in the workplace. Leaders who not only implement green policies but also foster a culture of awareness and knowledge sharing are better positioned to drive meaningful change within their organizations. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on the interplay between green leadership and personal environmental awareness within the creative industry, an area that has been underexplored in the literature. By shedding light on these dynamics, the study contributes valuable insights that can inform future initiatives aimed at enhancing sustainability practices across various sectors. The implications of these findings underscore the importance of cultivating green leadership and promoting environmental awareness to attain improved environmental outcomes within organizational contexts.
