Green chemistry learning: project based integrated local wisdom to cultivate environmental awareness and student learning motivation
Abstract
This quantitative study aims to determine the effect of project-based green chemistry learning integrated with local wisdom on students' environmental awareness and learning motivation. The population was 10th grade students in Indonesia, and the sample was selected purposively, with 138 students from Jakarta and Bengkayang. The environmental awareness and learning motivation instruments were declared valid and reliable. Data analysis showed that project-based green chemistry learning integrated with local wisdom had a significant impact on environmental awareness (F = 88.002; sig = 0.001; partial eta square = 0.393) and student learning motivation (F = 83.627; sig = 0.001; partial eta square = 0.381), respectively. Furthermore, to test the hypothesis regarding the effect of project-based green chemistry learning integrated with local wisdom on both dependent variables simultaneously, the results of Pillai's Trace data analysis (F-value = 43.788; sig = 0.000; partial eta square = 0.393. The results of this study need to be studied further to determine the model's influence on other student competencies. These findings form the basis for developing policies that involve local wisdom in chemistry learning in Indonesia.
