Abstract

The article is devoted to fuzzy logic and fuzzy sets in solving problems of control of autonomous energy systems, specifically wind-diesel systems. Such hybrid energy systems are more efficient than those operating on one energy source. The task of management is the timely choice of the wind-diesel complex’s operating mode. The operating mode depends on the initial environmental conditions, in particular, on the strength of the wind and the level of consumer load. The article justifies the variety of operating modes of a hybrid autonomous power supply system and the structure of the fuzzy Mamdani output, implemented using the Fuzzy Logic Toolbox. The proposed fuzzy controller allows switching the operating modes of the energy system without human intervention, but in accordance with human thinking. That is the practical significance of the research. The fuzzy controller also helps to reduce the likelihood of equipment failures due to voltage fluctuations caused by the changing activity of renewable energy sources. The novelty of the research lies in the selection of parameters of the membership functions of the input variables, taking into account a specific geographical location of the application of hybrid energy systems. Before using a hybrid power system, it is necessary to review these systems based on their capacity. The parameters are selected only after a comprehensive analysis of the wind characteristics, processing the results of the meteorological service and analyzing the graphs of electrical loads of consumers in the settlements of the region in question.
