Two-Point Mueller-Matrix Biomedical Image Processing
Abstract
Our work is devoted to expanding the functional capabilities of traditional multichannel Mueller-matrix methods of polarization mapping for imaging the supramolecular networks of polycrystalline films of dried biological fluids. The applicability of these multiparametric techniques in biomedical differential diagnostics largely depends on the level of depolarization of the scattered radiation. Such Mueller-matrix techniques prove to be insufficiently effective for detecting changes in the texture of the supramolecular networks of biological crystals in polycrystalline films of biological fluids. The accuracy of differentiating inflammatory and pathological changes in human tissue samples (such as bile, synovial fluid, blood, and blood plasma) does not exceed 80–85%. We propose a new, alternative approach to Mueller-matrix polarization mapping.
