Abstract

Educational institutions worldwide are encouraging the integration of new technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), AR, and VR, in the digital-intelligent era to promote the development of higher education courses. Evaluating smart courses can encourage and facilitate the combination of new technologies with higher education. This paper, considering the gradual incorporation of new technologies in universities and the widely applied Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) concept, establishes a smart courses evaluation framework. The Hierarchy Entropy Weight (HEW) technical method is used to determine the weights of indicators, and the framework is applied to evaluate three specific courses. Through the evaluation of curriculum systems, the application of new technologies in the digital-intelligent era indeed helps enrich classroom content and facilitate the achievement of students’ competencies. However, compared with traditional courses, there is a concern that the analytical evaluation during the process and continuous optimization have become overly dependent on technology. The purpose of establishing a smart course evaluation framework is to guide teachers to leverage the advantages of technology while addressing its shortcomings, thereby facilitating the development of smart course construction.
