Abstract

Under the unprecedented changes of the century, China’s economy has shifted from rapid growth to high-quality development, demanding a large-scale cultivation of high-quality technical and skilled talents. Vocational education has thus been entrusted with a more critical mission. At the same time, the implementation of the “Double High Plan” (DHP) has put forward higher requirements for the professional competence of teachers in higher vocational colleges. Taking teachers of higher vocational colleges in Hubei Province as a sample, this paper uses research and data analysis to conclude that there are six core dimensions for improving teachers’ professional competence in higher vocational colleges: personal traits and professional ethics, teaching competence, research and social service capabilities, professional practice ability, educational philosophy and school management.
