Influencing Factors and Corrections for Cable Saddle Layout in Cable-Stayed Bridges: A Theoretical Analysis and Case Study
Abstract
The precise installation and positioning of cable saddles represent a critical and challenging aspect in the construction of cable-stayed bridges, as their accuracy directly influences the force state of the stay cables and has consequently garnered significant research attention. Based on a construction monitoring project for a single-pylon cable-stayed bridge with double cable planes, this paper first derives the correction formulas for cable saddle angles based on fundamental assumptions of stay cable behavior. Subsequently, a comparative analysis is conducted by deriving and evaluating the influences of various factors on the cable saddle inclination angle, including the sag due to self-weight, girder pre-camber, girder compression, and pylon deformation. The results indicate that the cable sag exerts the most substantial influence on the stay cable angle, whereas girder compression deformation has the least effect. This study systematically investigates the factors affecting the positioning of cable saddles in cable-stayed bridges, providing valuable engineering experience for future similar projects.
