Abstract

In the western region of Jilin Province, there is a wide distribution of carbonate saline soil. Due to its characteristics of expansion, dissolution, and dispersion, carbonate saline soil is unsuitable for use as subgrade fill in road construction. To improve its road performance, this paper introduces composite inorganic binders for the improvement of carbonate saline soil subgrade fill, drawing on investigations into saline soil improvement both domestically and abroad. Considering the influence of cement, lime, and fly ash (the so-called “three-ash” mixture) on soil strength and durability, indoor tests combined with range analysis were used to determine the relative importance of each improvement material on the road performance of carbonate saline soil. The research results provide useful reference significance for the application of carbonate saline soil improvement.
