Fast Calibration Method for Light Plane Based on Custom Trapezoidal Block
Abstract
Traditional laser light-plane calibration methods require capturing multiple images under different poses, which are cumbersome and lack efficiency in practical engineering applications. This paper presents a rapid light-plane calibration method based on a custom-designed trapezoidal block. By leveraging the intersection features between multiple trapezoidal steps and the laser plane, a large number of non-collinear feature points can be extracted from a single image, and the light-plane equation can be optimally fitted into the camera coordinate system, thereby improving calibration accuracy and efficiency. Experimental validation using 10-mm and 20-mm standard components shows that the proposed method achieves root mean square errors of 0.023 mm and 0.022 mm, with smaller standard deviations compared to the planar calibration board method. These results demonstrate that the proposed method not only improves accuracy and stability but also eliminates the need for multi-pose acquisition, significantly reducing calibration time. Therefore, it satisfies the requirements for rapid and high-precision light-plane calibration in industrial measurement scenarios.
