Investigation on the Muzzle Flow-Field Characteristics Based on Numerical Simulation Method
Abstract
In modern warfare, combat platforms such as fighter jets are affected by shock waves. Flow-field characteristics are crucial for the performance and reliability of these platforms. This study employs a fluid simulation method to investigate the effects of sensitive parameters and the distance between the bulkhead and the gun barrel on the flow field of an aircraft gun. Simulations are conducted under various conditions: a baseline working condition, a condition featuring a 20% deviation of the initial condition, and a condition with an increased distance between the bulkhead and the gun barre. Numerical calculations are performed using the AUSM+ scheme, the Venkatakrishnan-improved limiter, and the Menter k – ω SST turbulence model. The numerical method and computational model are verified through previous shock-tube and projectile flight experiments. The results demonstrate that reducing the initial conditions stabilizes the flow field. Increasing the distance between the bulkhead and the gun barrel influences the diffusion of the flow field and pressure distribution. These findings provide valuable insights for optimizing the flow field of aircraft guns and contribute to improving the performance and reliability of gun systems in various applications and conditions.
