Numerical Study on Combustion Performance of Multi-Pintle Injector for Annular Combustor
Abstract
This paper presents a numerical study of an annular combustor with eight adjustable pintle injectors as injection units. Liquid oxygen and kerosene are used as propellants in the combustor, and the study focuses on analyzing its combustion performance under different throttle settings, turbulence ring structures, and additive gases. The results indicate that the combustor can achieve efficient combustion at both 10% and 100% throttle settings, but combustion efficiency decreases as the flow rate decreases. The turbulence ring structure can significantly improve the temperature distribution at the outlet. The higher, wider, and closer the turbulence structure is to the injector, the more uniform the temperature distribution becomes. Adding hydrogen can significantly reduce soot concentration, while the effect of water vapor is poor. A water vapor addition of more than 1.5% is required to achieve soot suppression, and nitrogen has almost no effect on soot suppression.
