Research on Input-Output Efficiency of Science and Technology Finance by Fuzzy DEA Model
Abstract
Under the context of the knowledge economy and the innovation-driven development strategy, this study constructs a Fuzzy Data Envelopment Analysis (Fuzzy DEA) model based on panel data from 30 Chinese provinces covering the period 2008–2023 to examines the efficiency of inputs and outputs efficiency science and technology finance. The analysis not only identifies regional disparities but also decomposes efficiency into pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency to uncover the underlying sources of performance gaps. The results reveal distinct regional disparities: eastern provinces reach the highest efficiency with both technological and scale advantages; the central region ranks second, with balanced performance but scale limitations, while western and northeastern regions lag behind due to limitations in both pure technical efficiency and economies of scale. Robustness checks using bootstrap and sensitivity analyses suggest that these patterns are broadly consistent across specifications. These findings provide empirical evidence on regional heterogeneity in the efficiency of science and technology finance, offering insights for promoting more balanced and coordinated development.
