Abstract

This paper explores the application and preservation of AIGC (Artificial Intelligence Generated Content) and device-free motion capture technology in Meishan Nuo Opera, a traditional Chinese dance form of intangible cultural heritage. As a sacred ritual dance with profound historical significance and social functions, Nuo Opera showcases remarkable artistic expression. However, modernization has posed significant challenges to the inheritance and practical application of this traditional art. The integration of digital technologies thus presents new opportunities for safeguarding and passing down this cultural legacy. This study employs device-free motion capture technology to digitally reconstruct the movement patterns of Nuo Opera through a video clip, while redesigning them in a virtual environment to recreate their distinctive dance aesthetics. By leveraging computer vision and deep learning, the technology accurately captures dancers’ movements and converts them into dynamic digital avatars, achieving a digital revitalization of Nuo Dance. This innovation not only overcomes the limitations of traditional motion capture equipment but also provides a novel approach for preserving and showcasing dance artistry.
