Abstract

Crisis situations such as war and terrorist attacks have a profound impact on mental health, creating an urgent need for effective support and intervention strategies. Currently, the infrastructure for mental health tools in such crisis environments is limited, with available resources often failing to provide scalable and timely solutions. Existing diagnostic methods are hampered by challenges in accuracy, accessibility, and adaptability, leaving many affected populations underserved. This chapter critically discusses the potential of digital tools and artificial intelligence in revolutionizing mental health care for these contexts. By developing flexible, easy-to-use, and scalable tools capable of global mental health assessments and risk stratification, digital psychiatry can overcome existing barriers, offering timely and cost-effective solutions that adapt to rapidly changing and resource-constrained settings.
