Digital Solutions for Resilience in Healthcare and Military Contexts
Abstract
Resilience, defined as the ability to endure and thrive amidst adversity, has traditionally been fostered through physical drills and classroom training. However, the limitations of these conventional methods have prompted a shift toward digital innovations such as mobile applications, virtual reality (VR), and wearable sensors. These technologies offer engaging, personalized, and data-driven approaches to resilience training, enabling real-time monitoring and support. The chapter reviews historical resilience training practices, highlights specific case studies of emerging digital interventions, and discusses pilot trials that demonstrate their potential to improve stress management, ethical decision-making, and overall mental well-being. Despite early positive findings, challenges remain in user engagement, data privacy, and the need for robust evidence on long-term effectiveness. Ultimately, the chapter advocates for a comprehensive, technology-enabled resilience model that complements traditional training and addresses the unique challenges faced by frontline professionals.
