MHealth in the Context of Cancer Patient Navigation: A Systematic Review
Abstract
Patient Navigation (PN) addresses barriers to healthcare access for patients with chronic disease, particularly in cancer care. Originally developed for underserved populations, PN improves treatment adherence and reduces disparities in diagnosis and mortality. Implementation challenges include fragmented information systems, workflow inefficiencies, and multidisciplinary integration. Mobile health (mHealth) solutions can support PN by improving communication, patient tracking, and care coordination. This systematic review, following PRISMA guidelines, examines mHealth applications in cancer PN, focusing on platforms, reported outcomes, and data security and usability considerations.
