Cine sonoro: influencia cinematográfica y comunicativa del podcast Cowboys de Medianoche durante el confinamiento
Abstract
In recent years, podcasting has become widespread. Cowboys de Medianoche began as a radio section, which became an independent program and in recent years has been broadcast as a film podcast; it has been on the air for nearly 25 years. Directed by journalist Luis Herrero, the program features José Luis Garci, Eduardo Torres-Dulce and Luis Alberto de Cuenca, film scholars from the 70s to the 80s. The podcasts broadcasted during the confinement by COVID-19 are studied in order to carry out an exploration of the program. With the help of automatic text transcription tools carried out with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and self-made tables, the content of Cowboys de Medianoche is collected quantitatively and qualitatively, the program is analysed, the recurring themes and the discourse disseminated in the broadcasts by its protagonists. We discovered strengths such as its film content very focused on the classic Hollywood era, the wisdom of its protagonists, the cultural density, the spontaneity and maturity of their conversation, and the friendship they shared over the airwaves. The confusion sometimes created by the hosts when they talk over each other or cite original titles of movies, books, and songs constitutes a disadvantage of the podcast. Despite the program's limitations, its strengths contribute significantly to its quality and interest.
