A subsystem of exercises for developing professionally oriented Chinese stylistic competence in future philologists
Abstract
The article substantiates the relevance of developing a subsystem of exercises and reveals the essence of professionally oriented Chinese stylistic competence. It presents a subsystem of exercises consisting of two systems and classifies task types. Successful formation of stylistic competence requires the development of a specialized set of exercises that fully achieves the intended goal through the practical application of effective methodologicalapproaches. The proposed set includes exercise systems targeting two aspects of communicative competence–reading and writing–fostering practical skills and promoting conscious application of theoretical foundations of stylistic competence in real, everyday communication. It also enables effective formation of the foundation of Chinese stylistic competence in future philologists. Practical solutions are considered within the context of educational activities. The exercise set is identified as an effective tool for developing professionally oriented Chinese stylistic competence in future philologists, as confirmed by experimental implementation results. The developed exercises are based on competence-based, communicative, activity-based, text-centric, and sociocultural approaches, as well as specific stylistic methods. The set is recommended for use in teaching third- or fourth-year Chinese language students in higher education institutions and may serve as a basis for syllabi such as “Stylistics of the Chinese Language,” “Practical Stylistics of the Chinese Language,” or as an integrated element of other curricula related to practical Chinese language learning.
