Abstract
Незважаючи на наявність виробничого потенціалу та вигідне географічне положення, участь України у світовій торгівлі добривами ускладнюється високою енергоємністю виробництва, логістичними обмеженнями, регуляторними бар'єрами та на-The article examines the position of Ukraine in the international mineral fertilizers market, taking into account the economic regularities of its functioning, the specific features of Ukraine's foreign economic activity, and the prospects for integration into global supply chains. The study is based on the conceptual framework of economic theory, international trade, and global value chain analysis, which allows for a comprehensive assessment of the role of mineral fertilizers in ensuring agricultural productivity, food security, and international competitiveness. The key economic regularities governing the international mineral fertilizers market are identified, including the derived nature of demand from global agricultural production, high concentration of production and trade, strong dependence on energy and raw material costs, price cyclicality, and the growing influence of geopolitical and institutional factors. The competitive position of Ukraine in the international fertilizers market is analyzed, with particular attention paid to the structural characteristics of domestic production and export performance. The research identifies the main problems and barriers faced by Ukrainian mineral fertilizer producers when entering and operating in international markets. These barriers include the high energy intensity of production, rising energy prices, logistical constraints and high transportation costs, limited access to traditional export routes, increasing technical and environmental requirements in target markets, trade restrictions, financial constraints, and the consequences of ongoing military actions. These factors significantly reduce the price and non-price competitiveness of Ukrainian producers and limit their ability to establish long-term positions in global markets. It is emphasized that overcoming these barriers requires a comprehensive and coordinated approach that combines technological modernization, improvement of energy efficiency, development of alternative logistics corridors, compliance with international quality and environmental standards, and the formation of stable distribution and marketing channels. The article substantiates that Ukraine's integration into global fertilizer supply chains cannot be achieved through sporadic export operations alone but requires a transition to systematic participation in international production and logistics networks characterized by higher value added and stronger linkages with global agribusiness actors. The key directions for enhancing the competitiveness of Ukrainian mineral fertilizers are identified, including production modernization, environmental transformation of the industry, diversification of export markets, development of export infrastructure, and strengthening institutional support for foreign economic activity.
