Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the integration of Ukraine's electricity market into the European energy space in the context of deepening European integration, large-scale transformation of energy markets, and growing security challenges. The study examines the current state of development of Ukraine's electricity market, focusing on the results of power system synchronization with the European network, the establishment of key segments of a liberalized market, and the expansion of cross-border electricity trade.Particular attention is paid to identifying systemic challenges that constrain deeper integration, including regulatory and institutional instability, technical and infrastructural limitations, economic and investment uncertainty, security-related risks, and restricted access of Ukrainian market participants to European financial and digital market platforms. The research substantiates that technical synchronization and formal alignment of national legislation with European Union requirements represent necessary but insufficient conditions for full integration into the EU internal electricity market.Effective integration also requires stable and predictable regulatory practices, strengthened institutional capacity, modernization of transmission and distribution infrastructure, and the development of flexible market mechanisms capable of integrating a growing share of renewable energy sources. The paper emphasizes that limited access to European trading, balancing, and financial platforms significantly reduces market efficiency, constrains riskmanagement opportunities, and weakens the competitiveness of Ukrainian electricity traders.Special consideration is given to the impact of wartime factors on the reliability of energy infrastructure, investment attractiveness, and long-term market planning. In this context, integration into the European energy space acquires not only economic but also strategic security significance. The article identifies key directions for future development, including regulatory stabilization, institutional strengthening, infrastructure modernization, enhanced energy security measures, and the gradual inclusion of Ukraine in European trading and balancing mechanisms. The findings may serve as an analytical basis for shaping state energy policy, designing post-war recovery strategies, and supporting Ukraine's full-fledged participation in the European energy market.
