Abstract

The article systematizes the key properties of a transformational economic system and substantiates the mechanisms of their influence on the development of business structures.Six fundamental properties of a transformational economy are identified and classified: institutional immaturity, high uncertainty of the business environment, incomplete privatization and restructuring, digitalization and technological divergence, integration into global markets, and a low level of institutional trust. It is established that these properties exert a dual impact on business: on the one hand, they create significant barriers and increase the risks of entrepreneurial activity, including rising transaction costs, difficulties in long-term planning, unequal competitive conditions, and limited access of small and mediumsized enterprises to resources; on the other hand, they generate unique conditions for the testing and dissemination of innovative business models, particularly those based on distributed ledger technologies (blockchain).A comparative analysis of traditional and blockchain-oriented business models is conducted across seven key parameters: trust mechanism, transaction costs, operational transparency, resilience to institutional shocks, scalability, innovation potential, and adaptability to the environment. The analysis demonstrates that blockchain-oriented business models possess a number of advantages under the conditions of a transformational economy, primarily due to the replacement of institutional trust with technological trust and the properties of antifragility. The concept of antifragility, introduced by N. Taleb and empirically confirmed in the context of blockchain economics, implies that decentralized systems are capable not merely of withstanding shocks but of strengthening in response to stressors, which is of fundamental importance for business structures operating in volatile and unpredictable institutional environments.Using the example of Ukraine, it is demonstrated that the combination of state digital platforms, such as the Diia ecosystem providing over 140 digital services to approximately 22 million users, and decentralized blockchain solutions can form an
