Abstract

Purpose.The article aims to develop a comprehensive three-tier metrics system for monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of artificial intelligence tools in the marketing activities of enterprises, enabling end-to-end tracking from daily operational usage to strategic economic return on investment.Findings.The research systematizes existing approaches to evaluating AI implementation in business, including Deloitte's AI ROI Performance Index, MIT CISR's four-level maturity model, Gartner's five-level AI maturity framework, Google Cloud's five-dimension KPI model, and IBM's Hard ROI versus Soft ROI framework. The analysis reveals a critical fragmentation gap: each framework addresses a single dimension of AI effectiveness without providing a mechanism for hierarchical aggregation of metrics across organizational levels. To address this gap, the author proposes a three-tier metrics system comprising 14 indicators organized according to the principle of hierarchical aggregation, whereby lower-level data serve as inputs for calculating higher-level indicators. The operational level encompasses five daily monitoring metrics: AI Usage Frequency, Time Savings per Operation, AI Operations Volume, Output Acceptance Rate, and Revision Effort Rate. The latter two are original metrics proposed by the author, designed to capture the marketing-specific requirement for human verification of AI-generated content. The tactical level includes five aggregated productivity indicators: AI Productivity Index, Subscription Utilization Rate, AI Advantage Ratio, AI Utilization Score, and Campaign AI Depth. The AI Utilization Score is a key original contribution, functioning analogously to equipment utilization coefficients in manufacturing. The tactical level also introduces a Cost versus Business Impact matrix for classifying the enterprise's AI portfolio into four categories. The strategic level comprises four indicators: AI ROI, AI Total Cost of Ownership, AI Marketing Maturity Index, and Cost per Useful AI Operation. The AI Marketing Maturity Index is an integral indicator that synthesizes tactical-level data into a single assessment of the marketing function's readiness for AI scaling.Originality.The scientific novelty lies in the proposed original metrics (OAR, RER, AUS, AMMI, CPUAO) that account for the sectoral specificity of marketing activities, the hierarchical aggregation logic connecting all three levels, the Cost versus Business Impact matrix for AI portfolio management, and the AMMI-based strategic decision-making mechanism.Practical value. The developed system enables enterprises to justify AI investments based on formalized quantitative indicators, optimize AI portfolios by identifying underutilized subscriptions and ineffective tools, and track the dynamics of AI implementation maturity. The article provides a three-stage implementation methodology using standard corporate analytics tools. Conclusions and further research. The proposed three-tier metrics system ensures end-to-end transparency of AI implementation in marketing.Further research should focus on empirical validation across Ukrainian enterprises of varying industries and sizes, as well as on extending the system to accommodate agentic AI metrics and integrating predictive analytics capabilities.Ключові слова: штучний інтелект у маркетингу, метрики ефективності AI, трирівнева система показників, індекс зрілості AIмаркетингу, цифрова трансформація маркетингу.
