Postural disorders are balance disturbances that arise from dysfunctions and diseases of the sensory systems, central nervous system, and musculoskeletal system. They are common in all age groups and often lead to chronic pain, discomfort, and an increased risk of falls and injuries. The purpose of this lecture is to systematize the causes of postural disorders and methods for studying balance indicators and fall risk, based on current literature. This lecture presents an overview of the current state of knowledge regarding the causes of postural imbalance and the body′s possible compensatory responses. Numerous methods used to examine patients with postural disorders are systematized, indicating the minimum clinically significant difference.
