Integrating internationally trained medical doctors' (IMTD) talent into the Canadian healthcare sector
Abstract
An international medical doctor scarcity and the need to address the Covid 19 outbreak and its aftereffects should give priority to integrating these doctors into the Canadian healthcare system. Since IMTDs are already in Canada, their integration into Canadian culture is more manageable. This MRP will investigate IMTD's immigration, settlement, licensing process, and integration difficulties in the Canadian healthcare industry using thematic analysis. This paper will also cover government policies, participation at various levels, regulatory agencies, and people's unwavering commitment to regaining their status as medical professionals in Canada. In this MRP, the researcher will examine how government-implemented pilot programs aided IMTDs in integrating into the healthcare industry and significantly increased IMTDs. Keywords: International Trained Medical Doctor (IMTD), IMG (International Medical Graduate), International Educated Health Care Professional (IEHP), Medical graduates from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), International Education and Health Professionals Initiative (IEHP), The Internationally Trained Workers Initiative (ITWI).
