Abstract

Films have been used as a form of entertainment for decades, an escape from reality, and a tool to shape and share different experiences and cultures with an audience. As technology has evolved, the ways stories are told have also changed, with human connection at the center of storytelling. This MRP explores the impact of using Immersive VR environments to view 360-degree personal narrative videos within the context of an autobiographical documentary. The study aims to understand how the 360-degree projection of an Immersive VR environment influences the viewer's experience of personal narrative or autobiographical videos. Through a case study approach, this research aims to contribute to the existing knowledge on immersive technologies in nonfiction filmmaking and provide insights into the implications and opportunities of employing a 360-degree video format in autobiographical storytelling. Keywords: 360 degree video, Autobiographical, Immersive VR environments, Virtual reality, Immersive video
