Creating an Interactive Art Installation for Coping With Growing Trends in Anxiety
Abstract
This research investigates the impact of an interactive art installation on anxiety alleviation and mental health promotion during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic's adverse effects on mental well-being, driven by economic recession and health concerns, necessitate effective coping mechanisms. Expressive activities, such as art creation, have been explored as potential solutions. This study proposes an interactive art installation that empowers participants to customize its colors and generate graceful motion effects based on their movements, enabling expressive activities to reduce anxiety and enhance emotional well-being. Preliminary feedback on the installation's design and interactive features is positive, indicating potential for emotional regulation. However, further refinement of materials and interactions is needed. Future endeavors include validating the installation's impact through the PANAS survey. This study contributes to the fields of art therapy and interactive design, providing novel insights into the potential of art-based interventions for enhancing mental well-being.
