Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Radiology Practices: The Quantitative Analysis of the Radiology Professionals' Perceptions of AI Usefulness

Despite the many advantages AI provides to the healthcare sector, AI use in medical imaging is in its infancy. Given the importance of radiology professionals' role, successful AI integration in radiology necessitate their acceptance. The purpose of this thesis is to explore radiology professionals’ perception of AI usefulness in improving healthcare quality. A major part of this thesis is dedicated to the quantitative analysis of the secondary dataset collected through an online survey administered among radiology professionals in the UAE. Besides understanding how radiology professionals perceive AI utilization, this study intended to develop a framework reflecting this perception via evaluating the existing theories. The study finding showed that factors such as AI functionality; AI experience; feeling toward AI; and AI clinical characteristics have the most significant contribution to explaining how radiology professionals perceive AI. The study findings can help in successful AI implementation toward improving the patient's quality of care.
