Abstract

The article explores the professional growth of staff as one of the key factors in enterprise development within a knowledge-based economy. It is substantiated that in the current conditions of economic transformation, investments in innovative technologies and production modernization do not yield the expected economic results without an adequate level of professional training of staff. It is demonstrated that the development of employees’ professional competencies is a crucial factor in enhancing the efficiency of investment resource use, reducing operating costs, and increasing enterprise profitability. The article analyzes the relationship between investments, profitability, and enterprise returns using the example of SE «Plant «Electrovazhmash». The main areas of the company’s investment activity have been examined, including the modernization of production equipment, automation and digitalization of processes, the introduction of intelligent management and monitoring systems, as well as their impact on financial results. Special attention is given to the role of professional development of staff in ensuring the effective implementation of innovative technologies and the execution of investment projects. A methodological approach has been proposed for assessing investment profitability, taking into account the costs of staff training and development. Based on the analysis of investment dynamics, profitability, and yield indicators for the period 2011–2021, a stable positive relationship has been confirmed between the growth of investments, the increase in profitability, and the company’s profit growth. It is proved that systematic professional development of staff should be regarded as a strategic tool for managing enterprise development, directly linked to enhancing its financial efficiency and competitiveness in a knowledge-based economy.
