Abstract

Background: Spiritual needs are an important part of holistic nursing care, but their implementation by nurses remains suboptimal due to limited understanding and skills. Nurses tend to focus more on the physical aspects of care than on the spiritual aspects. Furthermore, effective clinical supervision methods are needed to improve nurses' ability to provide spiritual care. One such method is the drill method, which emphasizes repetitive and directed practice. Purpose: To analyze the effect of the drill method in clinical supervision on nurses' spiritual care skills in hospitals. Method: This quasi-experimental study used a single-group pretest-posttest design. The population was 24 nurses in the general wards on floors 3A and 3B of Sari Asih Cipondoh Hospital. Data were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test. Results: The average spiritual care score of nurses before the drill method was implemented in the clinical supervision of team leaders in the intervention group was 1.29. Meanwhile, the average spiritual care score of nurses after the drill method was implemented in the clinical supervision of team leaders in the intervention group was 2.71. This demonstrates a difference in nurses' spiritual care before and after the training method was implemented in the researcher's clinical supervision in the intervention group (p=0.000). Conclusion: The training method in the clinical supervision of nurses in the hospital is effective in improving nurses' skills, discipline, and confidence in providing nursing care. The training method in clinical supervision significantly contributes to improving the quality of nursing services, adherence to procedures, and patient safety in the hospital. Suggestion: Nursing managers are expected to continue to develop the professionalism of nursing staff by creating a work culture through clinical supervision activities using the drill method.
