Abstract

The process of conceptualizing the image of the Mongol-Tatars in the Ipatiev Chronicle is investigated, static socio-ethical portraits of the Mongol-Tatars («безбожнымъ Татаромъ», «ѡканьнаго Кончака», etc.) have been reconstructed. The semantics and functional-pragmatic purpose of the epithets-designations used in relation to the Tatars have been clarified.
