Abstract

Cinema has proven to be a very important part of what we consider cultural heritage today, both as a tool for heritage recognition and as a heritage itself, with its own identity and values. In October 2025, we celebrate the 45th anniversary of the creation of a fundamental international document for the recognition of cinematographic heritage, and other significant anniversaries, along with World Day for Audiovisual Heritage. And we do so on the verge of consolidating a legal national reform that particularly affects this heritage and its constituents. Its proper definition at the regulatory level is essential to guarantee its protection, as well as to reflect the cultural policies that define us nowadays.
