Abstract

Alopecia areata is a chronic, relapsing, non‑scarring autoimmune disorder of hair follicles, characterized by sudden, well‑demarcated patches of hair loss that may progress to extensive scalp or body involvement. The present prospective observational study was conducted on 100 patients with clinically confirmed alopecia areata at SMS homoeopathic clinic over 18 months, to evaluate the effectiveness of individualized homeopathic medicines prescribed on miasmatic and constitutional grounds. Baseline and post‑treatment assessments were performed using the Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) score, an Alopecia Areata Investigator Global Assessment (AA‑IGA) grade, and patient‑reported outcomes including pruritus, burning, and Alopecia Areata Symptom Impact Scale (AASIS) domains. Substantial improvements in scalp‑hair coverage, symptom burden, and psychosocial functioning were documented, with statistically significant reductions in SALT scores and improvement in AA‑IGA categories, suggesting that individualized homeopathic treatment may serve as a safe, minimally invasive, and holistic therapeutic option for alopecia areata within an integrative care model.
