Role of homoeopathy in case of mesenteric lymphadenitis
Abstract
Mesenteric lymphadenitis is characterized by inflammatory enlargement of mesenteric lymph nodes, most frequently involving the right lower quadrant of the abdomen. It is a common cause of acute abdominal pain in children and young adults and often mimics acute appendicitis, leading to diagnostic uncertainty. Viral infections constitute the most frequent etiological factor, while bacterial pathogens such as Yersinia enterocolitica are also implicated. The widespread use of ultrasonography and computed tomography has improved diagnostic accuracy and reduced unnecessary surgical interventions. This review provides a concise overview of the epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, clinical features, diagnostic approach, differential diagnosis, and management of mesenteric lymphadenitis. Additionally, perspectives from German New Medicine and the scope of Homoeopathy are briefly discussed as complementary interpretative and therapeutic approaches.
