Abstract

Background: Pyrogenium is a widely used Homoeopathic Nosode prepared from decomposed lean beef and commonly prescribed in septic and toxaemic conditions. Low potencies such as Pyrogenium 1X may retain detectable material constituents. Scientific evaluation of micronutrients, minerals and vitamins in in-house prepared Homoeopathic medicines is important for quality assurance, safety and standardization. Objectives: To analyse the micronutrient and mineral content and to estimate the vitamin levels in in-house prepared Homoeopathic medicine Pyrogenium 1X. Materials and Methods: Pyrogenium 1X was prepared in-house according to the standard protocols. The sample was subjected to physicochemical analysis following standard laboratory procedures. Mineral and micronutrient analysis was carried out using ICP-OES model. Estimation of vitamins was performed using validated spectrophotometric methods. Results: Trace amounts of Micronutrients and Minerals like calcium, chromium, copper, ferrous, magnesium, iodine, zinc was present in Pyrogenium 1X. Trace amounts of Vitamins like A, B1, C, D3, E and K were present in Pyrogenium 1X. Conclusion: The findings indicate that in-house prepared Homoeopathic medicine Pyrogenium 1X contains trace levels of minerals, micronutrients and vitamins. The preparation complies with safety standards and supports the pharmaceutical quality and standardization of Homoeopathic medicine Pyrogenium 1X.
