Homoeopathic management of acute uncomplicated urinary tract infection: A clinical case study
Abstract
Under normal conditions, the presence of bacteria is restricted to the lower part of the urethra, while the rest of the urinary tract remains sterile. However, infection may occur when bacteria, mostly E. coli, enters the urinary tract. Uncomplicated urinary tract infections are one of the most commonly encountered bacterial infections in routine clinical practice. Homoeopathy offers an individualized and holistic approach in the management of acute conditions based on characteristic symptoms and totality. This article presents a clinical case of a 35- year- old female patient suffering from acute uncomplicated UTI, managed successfully with individualized homoeopathic medicines. Based on totality of symptom, Pulsatilla nigricans 1M was prescribed initially followed by Cantharis vesicatoria as symptoms evolved. Marked clinical improvement was observed within a few days. This case highlights the effectiveness of individualized homoeopathic treatment in acute uncomplicated UTI.
