Individualized homoeopathic management of a chronic non-healing diabetic foot ulcer: A case report
Abstract
Diabetic foot ulcers are a serious problem for people with long-term diabetes. They usually develop slowly and get worse over time, often because of nerve damage, poor blood circulation, repeated infections, and slow wound healing. These ulcers can become long-lasting and, if not treated properly, may lead to gangrene. In such cases, amputation sometimes becomes the only choice. Even with surgery and standard medical care, complete healing can be very difficult for some patients. This case report shares the complaints of 64-year-old man who had diabetes and high blood pressure for many years. He developed a chronic diabetic foot ulcer that did not heal, even after his right fourth toe was amputated due to gangrene. He was given a personalised homeopathic treatment plan, which included both constitutional medicines and supportive remedies. Over three months, with check-ups every two weeks, the wound started to heal, the discharge and discolouration reduced, and his overall health improved. This case highlights how individualised homeopathy might be useful as a complementary approach in managing chronic diabetic foot ulcers.
