An interventional study on effectiveness of lesser known homoeopathic remedy gaultheria procumbens in different potency in case of rheumatoid arthritis
Abstract
This study investigates the effectiveness of Gaultheria Procumbens 30 in treating symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic autoimmune disorder that involves multiple body systems, with the joints of the hands, wrists, feet, knees, shoulders, and elbows being most commonly affected. Affected joints show inflammatory changes including swelling, tenderness, warmth, and restricted movement. Early atrophy of the interosseous hand muscles is typical, and advancing joint and tendon damage may lead to ulnar deviation, boutonnière and swan-neck deformities, hammer toes, and occasional joint ankylosis. A single-blind, interventional study was conducted at Vidhyadeep Homoeopathic Medical College, targeting patients aged 20-40 with clinically diagnosed RA. RA symptoms, offering a potential alternative for symptom management. The study provides valuable clinical evidence on the effectiveness Gaultheria procumbens in homeopathic treatment for RA and encourages further research in this area. The limited duration of the study indicates the need for further research on this topic.
