A homeopathic case report on chronic varicose ankle ulcers in an elderly female: A constitutional approach
Abstract
Background: Chronic varicose ulcers are a frequent complication of chronic venous insufficiency in elderly individuals and are often associated with delayed healing and recurrence. Case Presentation: A 75-year-old female presented with bilateral non-healing ankle ulcers of five years’ duration, associated with burning and pulling pain, night aggravation, swelling, anxiety about health, loquacity, and a fixed belief regarding blood thinning medication. After repertorization using Kent’s Repertory, Lachesis was prescribed as the constitutional remedy. Local wound care was supported with dressing using Echinacea mother tincture. Results: Progressive improvement was observed over three months, culminating in complete healing of ulcers, reduction in swelling and pain, improved sleep, and better mental well-being. Conclusion: This case highlights the potential role of individualized constitutional homeopathic treatment in chronic varicose ulcers when remedy selection is based on totality of symptoms. Further systematic studies are warranted.
