Abstract

The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of isoprenaline on goat precontracted isolated pulmonary artery. Isoprenaline (10⁻⁹-10⁻³ M) elicited a concentration-dependent relaxation in histamine (10 µM) precontracted pulmonary arterial rings of goat with a maximal relaxation of 21.31±3.72% (n=6) and a pD2 of 7.82±0.24. Mechanical removal of the endothelium did not significantly modify the relaxant response with maximal relaxation. Pretreatment with propranolol (10 µM) attenuated the isoprenaline-mediated relaxation. Blockade of KATP channels with glibenclamide (10 µM) significantly (p
