Sub-acute toxicity study of acetamiprid in mice
Abstract
To assess the haemato-biochemical and histological changes after multiple exposure of acetamiprid in mice. A subacute toxicity study of acetamiprid was conducted in 64 mice (32 male + 32 female) in eight groups (8 each). Three different concentrations of acetamiprid i.e. 20, 10 and 5 mg/kg body weight were administered orally to mice. Untreated mice served as control. Different haematological and biochemical analysis were measured. Gross and histopathological observations were noted in this experiment. There was significant increase in the liver and kidney specific enzymes and in haematological examination anaemia was found. Vacuolar degeneration was found in liver and kidney both. Heart showed congestion and haemorrhage in myocardium. Lung showed emphysema, mild to moderate haemorrhage and congestion. There was some mononuclear cell infiltrations also found around alveolar septa. It is observed that acetamiprid is hepatotoxic as well as nephrotoxic.
