Digital transformation at the grassroots: An empirical study on the impact of digital payments on small businesses
Abstract
The fast growth of digital payment methods has changed how small businesses around the world do business in big ways. In developing countries like India, UPI, mobile accounts, QR-based payments and fintech platforms have made it easier for more people to get access to money and become financially stable. This research looks at how small businesses operate more efficiently, make more money, keep customers happy, be more open about their finances, and get access to credit after accepting digital payments. The study uses a structured poll of 150 small business owners and statistical analysis to find both good results and ongoing problems, such as high transaction costs, worries about cybersecurity and difficulties in learning how to use technology. The results show that digital payments make businesses more productive and competitive while also making it easier for them to join formal financial systems. The study adds to what's already been written by using real-life examples from small businesses to show how digital infrastructure and financial knowledge can be improved.
